If you'd like to make a project from the Elemental Spirits Block of the Month series, choose from these options:
Four tablerunner layouts, each using two Elemental Spirits blocks and featuring a block made from combining those two block designs.
Fire signs are Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20), Leo (Jul 23 - Aug 21), Sagittarius (Nov 23 - Dec 22)
Water signs are Cancer (Jun 22 - Jul 22), Scorpio (Oct 24 - Nov 22), Pisces (Feb 20 - Mar 20)
Earth signs are Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21), Virgo (Aug 22 - Sep 23), Capricorn (Dec 23 - Jan 20)
Wind signs are Gemini (May 22 - Jun 21), Libra (Sep 24 - Oct 23), Aquarius (Jan 21 - Feb 19)
Yin is feminine/creation/order, Yang is masculine/destruction/chaos
For these tablerunners, find your element and the element for your significant other, then use those block designs. The block in the middle of each tablerunner is made up of part of both elements. If you share the same element, use different fabrics to set off each element block and to provide contrast for the middle block.
Longer tablerunners or placemats can be made with your children's elements.

Yardage needed for 49" x 61" lap size quilt 1/4 yd. each for Fire, Water, Earth, Wind 3/4 yd. each for Yin, Yang (if using two different prints of the same color per block, then another piece of 1/4 yd each for Yin & Yang) 3/4 yd. for background of center blocks 1 3/4 yds. for border blocks 1/8 yd. for star center of the 6 blocks in the center 1/8 yd. for star center of border blocks 3/8 yd. for narrow binding 3 yds. for backing (Horizontal seam) Yardage estimates are generous to allow for fussy cutting of patches used in the Spirit blocks.
